چکیده
Abstract Effects of the weld microstructure and inclusions on brittle fracture initiation are investigated in a thermally aged ferritic high-nickel reactor pressure vessel head from decommissioned nuclear power plant. As-welded reheated regions mainly consist acicular polygonal ferrite, respectively. Fractographic examination Charpy V-notch impact toughness specimens reveals large (0.5–2.5 µm) at primary sites. High energies were measured for which was initiated small inclusion or an away V-notch. The density, geometry, chemical composition investigated. A crack initiates as microcrack either within multiphase oxide de-bonded interfaces between uncracked metal matrix. Primary sites can be determined all tested lower part transition curve below 41-J reference energy but not above mentioned value because changes mechanism resulting appearance.

Modelling the Evolution of Microstructure in Steel Weld Metal
Physical models for the development of microstructure have the potential of revealing new phenomena and properties. They can also help identify the controlling variables. The ability to model weld metal microstructure relies on a deep understanding of the phase transformation theory governing the changes which occur as the weld solidifies and cools to ambient temperature. Considerable progress ...
متن کاملInfluence of Post-Weld Heat Treatment on the Microstructure, Microhardness, and Toughness of a Weld Metal for Hot Bend
In this work, a weld metal in K65 pipeline steel pipe has been processed through self-designed post-weld heat treatments including reheating and tempering associated with hot bending. The microstructures and the corresponding toughness and microhardness of the weld metal subjected to the post-weld heat treatments have been investigated. Results show that with the increase in reheating temperatu...
